Announcement of all participating countries in the Sudirman Cup… Korean badminton, take first place in the group stage!

The final entries of 16 countries participating in the 2023 Sudirman Cup (World Mixed Team Badminton Championships) have been released. Our badminton team, which is aiming to regain the top spot for the first time in six years, must pass the group stage in first place.

The national team will participate in the Sudirman Cup held in Suzhou, China from the 14th to the 21st. Mixed Doubles – Men’s Singles – Women’s Singles – Men’s Doubles – Women’s Doubles While Korea, China and Japan are pointed out as strong candidates for the championship, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Denmark are evaluated as dark horses.

Korea and China have combinations within the top 10 in the world rankings in all events except men’s singles. In Japan, all events are within the top 10. On the other hand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, and Denmark are strong in certain events, but their power is uneven. Malaysia is strong in men’s singles and doubles, Indonesia is strong in men’s singles, Thailand is strong in men’s singles and mixed doubles, and Denmark is strong in men’s singles.

Korea will meet France, England and Japan in order in Group D of the group stage. The top 2 in each group advances to the quarterfinals. In order to avoid China, Indonesia, and Malaysia, which are likely to be No. 1 in Group A, they must take No. 1 in Group D. This is why the final match against Japan in Group D is important.

The variable is the game style. The women’s team and doubles, which are Korea’s strengths, are unfavorable for starting the match as they are played from the middle of the match. In the mixed doubles, there are Seo Seung-jae and Chae Yoo-jeong (5th in the world rankings) and Kim Won-ho and Jeong Na-eun (9th), but if they fail to overcome the baseline, the game plan may be twisted. Another variable is that the referee can change the existing match order depending on the opponent’s order.먹튀검증

However, in Japan, the red light was turned on for mixed doubles. At the Jeonyeong Open in March, Watanabe Yuta (2nd place), paired with Arisa Higashino, suffered a knee injury, increasing the chances of Kyohei Yamashita and Naru Shinoya (19th place) to play. Excluding the men’s singles, it is a good news for Korea, which has similar strength to Japan.
