Artistic Swimming Team Headed to France for the World Cup… Adapting to new regulations

The Korean Artistic Swimming team left for Montpellier, France to compete in the 2nd round of the 2023 International Swimming Federation Artistic Swimming World Cup.

The Korea Swimming Federation said on the 2nd, “The Artistic Swimming team left late in the afternoon on the 1st.”

The second round of the Artistic Swimming World Cup will be held in Montpellier, France, from the 5th to the 7th local time.

This World Cup 2nd competition is the second competition in which the new regulations decided at the International Swimming Federation Artistic Swimming Technical Assembly in October last year are applied.

Lee Ri-young (22, Busan Metropolitan City Swimming Federation) and Heo Yoon-seo (17, Apgujeong High School), who train with Hyo-mi Kim and coach Oksana Pismenna (Ukraine), will compete in the World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka in July and Hangzhou in September. Lee Ri-young and Heo Yoon-seo placed 8th in the duet technical and 5th in the duet free at the first World Cup held in Canada in March.

The Korea Swimming Federation said, “Lee Ri-young and Heo Yoon-seo will try to achieve a higher score than the 247.9999 points obtained in the first duet free by aiming for additional points with more elaborate movements in the second competition.”

At the 2022 Budapest Duet Technical, Lee Ri-young, the 8th year of the national team, who succeeded in advancing to the final of the World Swimming Championships for the first time in Korean swimming history and finished 6th in the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games duet, said, “Because we are still adapting to the new regulations, the world championship and the Asian Games Before the game, I have to gain practical experience. I will learn a lot so that the precious opportunity to participate is not wasted.”

Heo Yoon-seo said, “Based on the experience of the first competition, I will show more growth in this second competition,” and said, “I will prepare well until the Asian Games.”
