Choi ‘best finish of the season’ after runner-up finish at PGA Champions Tour’s Sanford International

Choi Kyung-ju “Tank” Choi, 53, of SK Telecom, finished runner-up on the U.S. Professional Golf (PGA) Champions Tour, his best finish of the season.

Choi began the final three rounds of the PGA Champions Tour’s Sanford International ($2 million purse) at Menahaha Country Club (par 70, 6,729 yards) in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, USA, on Sept. 18 (ET).

On the day, Choi carded six birdies and one bogey for a 5-under 65 for a final round total of 15-under 195. Choi finished in second place, one stroke behind Steve Stricker (USA) at 16-under 194.

Choi was tied for the lead with Stryker on the day with six birdies through the par-5 16th hole. But Stryker, playing from the back, dropped a stroke on the 16th to regain sole possession of second place.

Choi, who needed a stroke to win, saved par on the 17th (par-3) before bogeying the 18th (par-4).

With the victory, Stryker improved her career win total to 17, including six on the Champions Tour this season.
