KOVO Cup, this time in the West…professional volleyball reunites after six years

The Korea Volleyball Organization (KOVO) has signed an agreement with the city of Gumi to host the 2023 Gumi Dodram Cup professional volleyball tournament, reuniting professional volleyball and the city of Gumi for the first time in six seasons.

The signing ceremony, held at Gumi City Hall on April 24, was attended by KOVO Secretary General Shin Moo-cheol, Gumi Vice Mayor Kim Hoseop, Gumi City Council Chairman Ahn Joo-chan, Korea Volleyball Association President Yoon Sang-hoon, and Kim Jin-hwan.

Through the agreement, Gumi City will provide various support for the tournament, including the rental of the Gumi Park Jung-hee Gymnasium as the host venue, administrative tasks, and publicity to attract spectators, and promised to cooperate with each other for the successful operation of the tournament.

Gumi City was home to the V-League from 2005 to 2017, when LIG Insurance, the predecessor of KB Insurance, hosted the tournament, and will be reunited with professional volleyball for the first time in about six years and four months since March 2017, the last game of the 2016-2017 season.스포츠토토

Meanwhile, the 2023 Gumi Dodram Cup Professional Volleyball Tournament will be held for 16 days, with the women’s competition from July 29 to August 5 and the men’s competition from August 6 to 13.

As 37,000 spectators visited the Suncheon and Dodram Cup in 2022, it is expected that the tournament in Gumi City will continue to be a hot volleyball feast.
