Shooting team to win three Asian Games gold medals…aim for second place overall

South Korea’s shooting team has vowed to win three gold medals and finish second overall behind China at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.

“We have realized the high performance of shooting powerhouses China and India through the (recently concluded) World Championships,” said Hong Seung-pyo, head coach of the national shooting team, at a media day at the Changwon International Shooting Range in Gyeongnam, South Korea, on Friday, adding, “The goal is three gold medals. We won three gold medals in Jakarta-Palembang 2018,” he said.

The gold medal hopefuls are Jung Jeong-jin (Cheongju City) in the 10-meter running target, Lee Eun-seo (Seosan City) in the 50-meter rifle three position and Song Jong-ho (IBK) in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol. The team has now left the Jincheon Athletes’ Village for a final tune-up at the Changwon International Shooting Range, the actual venue for the finals.

“I won the team gold medal in Incheon in 2014,” said Song, who is competing in his third Asian Games, “but I didn’t make the individual final at the second Asian Games. “I don’t have any rivals, but I am inspired by China’s Li Yuehong, who recently set a new world record,” he said, adding, “I will give it my all at the Asian Games.”

Kim Bomi (IBK), who will compete in the 10-meter air pistol, said, “As the competition approaches, I am focusing on basic fitness training such as weight training, running and mountain climbing. I’m also practicing to make my shots more natural and bold,” she said, adding, “My goal is to stand on the podium.” “I’ll be practicing at the Jincheon Athletes’ Village with Chinese music playing loudly on the speakers,” said Kim, who is worried about the noise from the crowd.

Lee Eun-seo, who is competing in the 50-meter rifle prone and 10-meter air rifle, said, “I want to win gold in the rifle prone event, which I am more confident in, by calmly releasing what I have been practicing,” adding, “I will approach the Asian Games with positive thoughts.”

Jung Jung-jin, a 10-meter running target shooter, shared her jinx, saying, “I think I do well when I shoot in black underwear,” and named “shooting emperor” Jin Jong-oh as the athlete she would most like to emulate.메이저사이트
