Kim Eun-joong needs just one point to qualify for the round of 16.
Kim Eun-Joong’s South Korea Under-20 football team will face Gambia in their third Group F match of the FIFA U-20 World Cup Argentina 2023 at the Estadio Malvinas Argentinas in Mendoza, Argentina, on 29 June at 6:00 am (local time). South Korea are currently second in the group with one win and one draw (4 points), while the Gambia lead the group with two wins (6 points).스포츠토토
Kim Jung-ho earned a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Honduras in the second group game on 26 June. South Korea conceded a penalty in the 20th minute to David Luiz, but Luiz, who scored the opening goal in the 27th minute, was sent off for a direct hit on Bae Seo-Joon’s head.
Despite their numerical advantage, South Korea found themselves 0-2 down six minutes into the second half when Isaac Castillo scored on a counter-attack. Fortunately, Kim Eun-joong’s mercenary tactics began to pay off, and back-to-back goals from Kim Yong-hak and Park Seung-ho secured a point.
With a hard-earned point, Korea’s chances of qualifying for the round of 16 are very high. The only thing that matters in the round of 16 is if South Korea lose to the Gambia. If the Gambia lose and Honduras win against France, South Korea will be tied with Honduras on four points. In this case, the rankings will be divided by goal difference and goal difference.
A third-place finish does not eliminate the possibility of qualifying for the round of 16. The tournament is divided into six groups of four teams, with a total of 24 nations participating. A ticket to the round of 16 can also be awarded to the third-placed team. The top four of the six teams that finish third in their group will qualify for the round of 16. The top three teams in each group will split the standings based on points, goals for, and goals against.
While we’re favourites to make the round of 16, we’re not quite there yet. This is because they lost a lot of power against Honduras. Firstly, goalkeeper Kim Jun-hong and centre-back Choi Seok-hyun will not be able to play in the third leg. Kim Jun-hong was cautioned for a time delay in the second half against Honduras.
He was cautioned in the first leg against France and will not be able to play in the third leg due to tournament regulations. Choi Seok-hyun will be unavailable for Game 3 as he was sent off for accumulating cautions against Honduras.
Park Seung-ho, who scored the crucial equaliser against Honduras, is also injured and is currently unavailable. The power leakage in both defence and attack is not small. It is important for Kim Eun-joong to prepare his team’s strategy in order to avoid a situation where the number of possibilities is too high.
“We need to give more than 100 per cent against the Gambia. Recovery is the most important thing. We will recover well for two days and prepare the best possible power.”
