The total prize money of the Korea Women’s Professional Golf (KLPGA) Tour this season exceeded 30 billion won for the first time ever.
The KLPGA Tour announced the 2023 season schedule and prize money through a board meeting held at the Korea Women’s Professional Golf Association in Gangnam-gu, Seoul on the 31st.
In the 2023 season, a total of 32 competitions will be held, with two more competitions than last season. The total prize money also increased by 2.8 billion won from 28.3 billion won to about 31.1 billion won (the average of the tournament is 970 million won). There are 14 tournaments this season with over 1 billion won in prize money, accounting for 43% of the total. There are nine tournaments with prize money of 1.2 billion won or more. Among them, the tournament with the largest prize money is the Hanwha Classic (held in August) with a scale of 1.667 billion won. This is a slight increase from last year’s 1.4 billion won.
This season, new competitions with total prize money of 1.2 billion won will be held in the second week of August and the third week of October, respectively.
The 2023 KLPGA tour announced the opening with the Hana Financial Group Singapore Women’s Open in December last year. The domestic opening game is the Lotte Rental Women’s Open to be held in Jeju Island on April 6. The final game of the season is the SK Shielders/SK Telecom Championship held in November.
